On a business trip to Las Vegas recently, I grabbed a day of vacation time and drove out to the Valley of Fire State Park. The day, of course was cloudless, and warm. Apart from an initial panic of locking my keys in my car, the day was amazing. The park is pretty much desert wilderness, so if you ever plan on going, be aware that the trails and hikes are not for the faint-of-heart. There are some pretty rough and rugged areas, but, on the other hand, the scenery is amazing. The problem is - how to show people your pictures... I mean - they are pretty much photos of rocks. And more rocks, and so on. I decided to put together a short video (yeah, I used some music that I didn't have permission to, I know.... my bad. I hope the artists don't mind. The misic was appropriate). The rock art is from a peoples who occupied this land dating back as far as 300 B.C.E. It is absolutely beautiful and... I might say a bit spiritual to be in the presence of literally walls of these pictographs. The video is a bit rough. I learned some lessons in what to do next time, but still, I think it illustrates the magnitude of the beauty better than multiple pictures of rocks might. One more tool to show off your photos. (the program I used was the free version of Lightworks). Enjoy j
