One of my favorite sayings is "Be the person your dog thinks you are". Dog could be cat, could be any pet that you actually relate to. For anyone who has a pet, you know how attached you can be. You understand how you communicate with a pet, to an animal who depends on you, who seems to read your moods, and basically 'relates' on a most basic level of understanding. My cat just passed this week. I had her for 18 years, from a kitten. It was her 'time'. The last days were painful for her. She was "my" cat. she related to me more than anyone else in the family. When I got up in the morning, I would feed her and then she would come and sit with me for a bit. She would come up and sit on the counter in the bathroom while I got ready for work. When I came home from work she would be at the door, and tell me about her day :). So many things like that made my life special. It is a profound loss that I feel when I look to the spot where she would lay in front of the fireplace and she's not there now. I still walk around the house and expect to hear her meows. A pet truly can become part of your family. I don't think I will have another pet any time soon. It will take a while to adjust. By the way - I post these pics more for myself than anything else.
