When life hits you with a heavy load, a serious setback, a tough road - whatever you want to call it, there are a number of things that are great to help you through it. Family, friends, and things that you love doing.
While I cannot ever deny the support of family and especially friends (And they know both who they are and what I'm talking about), photography is one of those things that tends to keep me in a balance. This year's camping trip in Algonquin was once again, spectacular. Every year reveals one more incredibly amazing part of the world we live in. Every year I enjoy myself more. I will post some more photos soon enough, though, I think this may be my favorite. stay tuned.

Came across another really cool thing to try with your camera. I had purchased a cheap little remote release for my camera a while back and I realized just recently that it was equipped with an intervalometer. This handy little gadget will snap a photo on programmed intervals. So - what you do is you set up your camera at a specific scene and you snap a photo - say every 5 or 6 seconds (or any preset time for that matter). Then later, you use a program like Microsoft's Movie Maker, or Lightworks (both free programs) to assemble the photos into a small movie clip.
For this year's trip to Algonquin I decided to try it out. I found a tree with a sturdy branch, and attached my small tripod to the tree, and set my camera up to snap a shot every 6-seconds. I did this for as long as it took us to pack up that morning. The clip worked perfectly and is lots of fun. We clowned around lots and had lots of fun with it while snapping the shots. Have a look for yourself: http://vimeo.com/103023606 There are a number of very interesting and beautiful timelapse videos around. Google search will turn up a ton of them. A couple I like: http://www.enriquepacheco.com/shaped-by-time and: http://www.enriquepacheco.com/wonderlights Enjoy. And don't be afraid to experiment. jt |
